Oschersleben & Spa Francorchamps

My injuries from my Assen crash weren't as bad as they first seemed, so we headed to Oschersleben looking for some good racing. The races turned-out pretty good and the week after at Spa Francorchamps was really successful too.

I was still a bit stiff from my crash at Assen, but qualifying went pretty good at Oschersleben for the 7th round of the German IDM Superbikes series, managing to go a second quicker then last year. The first race was lucky to be dry, I was a bit cautious at the start and had to do a lot of catching-up later on. I finished 19th and did my personal best laptime at the track.
The second race was a full wet race. This was the first time for me to ride the superbike in the rain, so I was a bit careful in the first few laps. But once I got the hang of the handling in the rain, I pushed more and more and made up A LOT of places and managed to nip a point in 15th position!

The week after we headed off to Spa Francorchamps, I hadn't raced at this world famous Belgian track in many years so I was a bit behind in qualifying. I qualified 22nd, but I knew I could do a lot beter in the Dutch Superbikes field. So after the first race was delayed more than an hour, I got off to an amazing start and was battling for a top 10 spot all race long. My quickest lap was 3,5 seconds quicker then in qualifying! I eventually took 10th place, with 9th,10th, and 11th place covered by less than 0,5 seconds.
Unfortunately, the second race got cancelled because of time restraints

Monday I started packing, because I'm moving to The Hague (Den Haag). I'm going to do my graduation research at my sponsor Vandervelde Protection in Zoetermeer, I'll be doing some commercial research for these fellas. I won't be able to move in to my new place untill sep 1st, so I'll be staying at my sisters' for a week:) Tuesday we went to see the rock band Flogging Molly to let off some steam. It was a blast!
Last but not least, I got a new racing boots sponsor. Frey Daytona was gracious enough to provide me with a very neat pair of custom racing boots! Thanks guys!

So, a new chapter in my life is about to start. I hope it'll turn out to be as cool as the last!:)
I'll leave you guys with some pictures from Spa, Flogging Molly, my new boots, and my moving boxes;)

Stay Cool!
